Keystone College's Basketball Teams are Hitting 'Threes for Timmy's Town'
Bookmark and Share

La Plume, PA (12-2-09) – The men’s and women’s basketball teams at Keystone College are hoping for pinpoint accuracy from beyond the three-point arch this season and so are the folks at Timmy’s Town Center.
The Keystone College athletic department will be taking pledges for the duration of the 2009-2010 basketball season in an effort to raise funds for Timmy’s Town Center

Timmy’s Town Center (TTC) is a private, not-for-profit organization formed to create a children’s museum in Scranton, PA.   TTC will create and sustain a welcoming, multicultural and non-discriminatory environment that will offer high quality hands-on, interactive exhibits and programs.  The center will also promote good citizenship and social responsibility, while encouraging and building strong minds and bodies and nurturing scientific and artistic development.

Timmy’s Town Center was developed in memory of Timmy Kelly who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in July of 2002 and unfortunately later died in May of 2003.  While undergoing treatments in Philadelphia the “Please Touch Museum” became a favorite destination of Timmy’s, which eventually provided the inspiration toward establishing a children’s museum in northeast Pennsylvania in his memory.

Visitors now have the opportunity to get that hands on experience in downtown Scranton, as Timmy’s Town Center has opened its first phase at the Mall at Steamtown.  The interactive exhibits are located on the second floor.

Individuals and businesses will have the opportunity to make a contribution two different ways in supporting this great cause.  The first is by making a flat donation toward ‘threes for Timmy’s Town,’ the other will be to make a pledge for every made three-pointer recorded this season by the men’s and women’s basketball teams at Keystone College.  An example would be, if someone pledges .05 per made three and the teams combine for 300 made shots, the donation would be $15.

Fans will be able to follow along all season with a running tally of made threes by going to www.gokcgiants.com and clicking on the Timmy’s Town Center logo.
