MEDIA, PA -- There will be four area basketball clinics held on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day benefiting the homeless shelters of Community Action Agency of Delaware County, Inc. (CAADC).
The 9th Annual Hoops from the Heart basketball clinics will occur on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Cabrini College, Haverford College, Neumann University and Springfield High School. All proceeds from the events will be donated to CAADC, a non-profit organization which provides services to low-income Delaware County residents striving for self-sufficiency. The clinics have raised over $30,000 for Community Action since they began in 2002. Players will be grouped by age and ability and will receive instruction in all aspects of fundamental basketball including passing, shooting, defense, ball handling, rebounding and team play. Space is limited so players are encouraged to enroll early.
Neumann University Athletics will host its basketball clinic at their new Mirenda Center for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development (CSSCD). It is open to boys and girls in grades one through eight and will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Drop-off and check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. The clinic will be directed by the Neumann Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches and Team members. Cost for the clinic is $30 per player which includes a t-shirt. Call (484) 840-4711 for more information. Participants are asked to bring one non-perishable food item to donate as well.
